Information from the Internet is stored in different types of websites and formats. This course will use Python to cover a variety of web scraping methods so that students can find relevant data in different environments. The course will demonstrate private and open data such as supermarkets, forums, and COVID-19 and turn those into machine-readable formats for further analysis.
When dealing with large amounts of data, traditional tools such as Excel are no longer sufficient and maintenance costs are high. This course will teach commonly used tools in Python (pandas, seaborn, numpy) and demonstrate how to effectively handle common data wrangling once the data has been collected.
